Searching Ripley County Cases by Name
The Ripley County Clerk points searchers to Indiana MyCase, the free public Odyssey case search. Pick the Name tab. Type a full last name. Then select Ripley County when the matter sits in Circuit or Superior Court, or choose Ripley County - Batesville City Court from the same dropdown. A first name, birth date, status, case category, or filing dates helps in one situation. It narrows things down when a broad sweep returns too much.
- Open MyCase and select the Name tab.
- Enter the person's last name or use the separate Business Name field.
- Select Ripley County or Batesville City Court and add a case category.
- Choose All, Open, or Closed and a filing range when useful.
- Open a likely match and compare its court, number, filing date, and status.
Two field rules shape any Ripley County docket search. You cannot search a first or middle name without a last name, and a business name cannot share the form with person fields.
| Field | Type | Required | Ripley search note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last name | Text | For a person | Maximum 40 characters; Sounds Like can broaden spelling |
| Birth date | Date | No | Uses mm/dd/yyyy and requires last name |
| Business name | Text | Alternative | Separate from person-name fields |
| Court | Dropdown | No | Ripley County and Batesville options |
| Status and filed dates | Filters | No | All, Open, Closed and mm/dd/yyyy dates |
Ripley County MyCase Search Tabs
MyCase gives you three routes in. The Case tab takes a case number, citation number, or cross-reference number. The Attorney tab takes a lawyer name or bar number. You cannot mix the two. All three routes pull the same public Odyssey data. The official MyCase help page shows how Indiana presents the service.

Expect a CAPTCHA after repeat searches. MyCase also bars data mining and bulk extraction. Results sort by newest file date and paginate at twenty per page, with sorting by number, style, or status date also available.
Searching Ripley County by Case Number
Every Indiana case number has four parts: court, filing year and month, case type, and a six-digit sequence. A safe sample is 69C01-2103-EU-000009. Ripley Circuit uses 69C01, Superior uses 69D01, and Batesville City Court uses 69H01. Historical 69I01 numbers belong to the Versailles Town Court, which was abolished in 2019. Enter the whole number first. MyCase forgives omitted hyphens and leading zeros. Wildcards work only at the end, so you cannot replace the entire number field with one. Citation and cross-reference numbers belong in their own fields. The Indiana uniform case-number rule is the source for this structure.

Check the court prefix before anything else. It routes a missing Ripley County docket entry to the right office.
When Ripley County Search Misses
A blank screen does not mean no case exists. Strip punctuation and leading zeros. Retry the exact case number. Broaden a name with Sounds Like, and recheck court, category, status, and dates. MyCase caps results at 1,000. So refine a broad name search rather than trusting the first match. Timing matters too. Ripley Circuit and Superior joined Odyssey on November 6, 2017. An older entry may read "converted event." Older paper, index, or microfilm records may live only with the clerk. Batesville matters can require a call to that city-court counter. Sealed, expunged, juvenile, adoption, and mental-health cases may be absent. Access rules keep them off the public docket. The Indiana court-records hub explains the official access framework.

When remote access ends, the statewide hub points back to the court that keeps the official record. That is where a Ripley County case lookup finishes.
What a Ripley County Case Search Returns
A results row only flags possible matches. Open one and you may find the case header, public parties and attorneys, settings, Chronological Case Summary events, disposition, financial labels, and linked document images. The CCS is the dated history of filings, orders, hearings, and outcomes. A missing image does not mean the filed document is absent from the court record. The record itself still stands.
| Case number and court | Shows the Ripley court, filing period, type, and sequence. |
|---|---|
| Case style and roles | Public caption and party roles, subject to redaction. |
| Status and filed date | Broad open or closed status and opening date. |
| CCS events | Dated filings, service, motions, hearings, orders, pleas, and judgments. |
| Settings | Date, time, event type, and room when displayed. |
| Documents | Available non-confidential images; access varies by case type. |
Always read the newest event and setting. An old setting can linger after a reset, and a public balance can trail the clerk's ledger.
Ripley County Cases vs Statistics
Do not confuse two state products. MyCase is a case-level public search. The Trial Court Statistics application is called ICOR. It reports aggregate activity by court and category, and it never identifies a party's record. Ripley's 2024 grid showed 3,771 new cases across all courts. That total cannot tell you what happened in one case. The official trial-court statistics tool displays that separate data layer.

Use ICOR for court activity and MyCase for a public docket lookup.
Statewide vs County Case Search
Ripley County offers no county-built docket portal of its own. MyCase serves as both Indiana's statewide layer and the county's online starting point. The real comparison is remote convenience against local access to the official court file.
| Channel | Coverage | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| Indiana MyCase | Public Odyssey records statewide | Name, number, citation, event, and available image searches |
| Ripley County Clerk | Circuit and Superior official files | Missing public documents, old records, inspection, and certified copies |
| Batesville City Court | Its qualifying city cases | City docket, hearing, and payment questions |
| CourtCal | Participating public calendars | A limited date cross-check, not a replacement case search |
Visit the Clerk's counter at 115 N Main Street in Versailles, or mail P.O. Box 177, Versailles, IN 47042. The published phone is 812-689-6115. When you call, be ready. Give the court, case number, event date, and the exact item sought. The clerk posts no Ripley-specific public email, drop box, bulk subscription, or self-service terminal process.
Ripley County Document Follow-Up
An event line and the document behind it are two different records. Open any linked public image first. If none appears, jot down the number, court, event date, and document title before you contact the clerk. Say whether you need a plain or certified copy. The state's court-record request instructions call for reasonable particularity.

Precision keeps an order, judgment, pleading, and full CCS from being confused with one another. Even after MyCase finds the case, mail, phone, and the clerk counter remain valid ways to follow up on a Ripley County court record.
Access and Restricted Cases
Public access is the default under Indiana Access to Court Records Rule 4. Rule 5 then carves out what stays confidential. Juvenile matters fall outside public view, along with adoptions, mental-health files, and protected treatment records. Victim and witness identifiers get redacted, as do financial account numbers, granted expungements, and sealed files. So a Ripley County case search can skip a case entirely or show only part of its record.
Rule 9 offers one narrow door. In extraordinary circumstances, a verified request and a court order can unlock material that is normally closed. That is not a workaround for routine confidentiality. Parties, their lawyers, and authorized agencies hold lawful access that an anonymous searcher does not.
Official-record rule: MyCase is a free public index, but the maintaining Ripley County clerk holds the official court file.
Once you know the case number, the Ripley County court records process is the way to get a public filing or a certified copy. Do not stop at search results. Check any fact that matters against the newest CCS entry, the filed order, or the record held by the clerk.
Ripley County Converted Case Events
A converted event is a technology marker, plain and simple. It is not a ruling and not an outcome. Older Ripley County entries were sometimes moved into Odyssey. The line can show up for those. The county courts joined the system in 2017. Entries born in the current system often carry more detail than these migrated lines. Compare the CCS dates around it. Is the text still unclear? Ask the clerk for the underlying public document or an older index.
Never read a converted line to mean a case was reopened, dismissed, or sealed. What controls is the event text itself, any later order, and the maintained file. The distinction matters most for historical and genealogy work that crosses the paper-to-digital line.
