How to Search the Versailles Court Docket
Start a Ripley County case lookup with Indiana MyCase. It covers current public Versailles filings from Ripley Circuit Court and Ripley Superior Court. The city where something happened is not a search field. Search by case number, citation number, cross-reference number, party, or attorney instead. Then narrow the Court filter to Ripley County. The active county identifiers are 69C01 and 69D01.
- Read the notice or citation for its court and case number.
- Choose the proper Case, Name, or Attorney MyCase tab.
- Filter to Ripley County, open or closed status, and a useful filing range.
- Open the result and read its newest event, setting, disposition, and document status.
- Call the Ripley County Clerk if the record or image is missing.
For an old Versailles Town Court matter, give the Clerk the old number or citation plus an approximate date. Converted or older events may not be complete online. A mailed request should name the exact CCS or document and say whether a plain or certified copy is needed.
Versailles Court Docket Codes
Indiana's uniform case number keeps the former town court distinct from today's county courts. The first segment tells you the county, the court type, and the court number. Ripley County starts with 69. So a current Circuit file begins with 69C01, a current Superior file with 69D01. The old Versailles venue used 69I01.
- 69C01
- Ripley Circuit Court, an active county trial court.
- 69D01
- Ripley Superior Court, an active county trial court.
- 69I01
- Ripley or Versailles Town Court, abolished January 1, 2019.
- CCS
- The Chronological Case Summary, which lists dated filings, settings, orders, and outcomes.
Batesville City Court shows up in the MyCase list, but do not pick it for a Versailles matter. It is a separate active venue, not the successor label for Versailles.
The Versailles Municipal Court
Versailles has no active municipal or town court. The Ripley or Versailles Town Court was abolished effective January 1, 2019. Its historical Odyssey code still helps you spot an old file, but it is not a current calendar or filing venue. County cases today are filed under the rules for Ripley Circuit and Superior Courts.
The Versailles town portal handles municipal administration only. Town Hall sits at 128 N Main Street. It publishes weekday hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., closed noon to 1:00 p.m. Staff there can route a local administrative question. They cannot certify a county court CCS.
The town site is easy to spot online, but it is not the official county case search. Keep the two straight when chasing a Versailles docket entry.
Versailles Court Docket After 2019
After the abolition, follow the filing court shown on the record. An ordinance or traffic matter may land in Ripley Superior Court. Civil, criminal, probate, family, and juvenile cases follow the county's local assignment rules. The court code is what matters. It is not a hunt for a current Versailles Town Court calendar.
If an older 69I01 record is missing from MyCase, call the Ripley County Clerk at 812-689-6115. Give useful detail. Share the old case or citation number, names as they appeared in the file, the approximate year, and the document you want. The Clerk sets no special Versailles archive form, local turnaround, or separate copy price.
Current route: search 69C01 or 69D01 for a county-filed Versailles matter. Treat 69I01 only as a historical identifier.
Versailles Court Dates and Settings
Check the settings or Appear By block in MyCase first, since it is case-specific. Read the latest CCS event too. A continuance can leave a stale date sitting in the history. Indiana CourtCal adds county, court, date, name, and case-number fields for participating public calendars. It covers only a limited rolling date range. It is not proof that every Ripley setting appears there.
| Date | The newest date tied to the setting or filed order. |
|---|---|
| Time | The stated call, hearing, or appearance time. |
| Courtroom | The county courtroom or location displayed for the setting. |
| Judge | The assigned judge, subject to reassignment shown by later entries. |
| Setting type | Arraignment, pretrial, motion, trial, review, or another stated event. |
When a near-term hearing date is unclear, call Circuit Court at 812-689-6226, the verified Superior Court line, or the Clerk at 812-689-6115. Town Hall is not the hearing confirmation line.
Versailles Docket at County Seat
The Ripley County Courthouse stands at 115 N Main Street in Versailles. The Clerk's public counter is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. That counter is the confirmed in-person route for a county CCS, file inspection, plain copy, or certified copy. Mail for the clerk goes to P.O. Box 177, Versailles, IN 47042.
Versailles became the county seat in 1818. The present Classical Revival courthouse was finished in 1863 or 1864. Its three-tier clock and bell tower was rebuilt in the 1930s. A west stair and elevator addition followed in 1971. That history is why municipal and county functions sit so close together. Yet their records live with different offices.
Courthouse rules bar unapproved cameras and recording above the first floor and in courtrooms. Inspecting a file is a different act. Ask before you photograph a page.
Versailles Traffic Tickets
Begin with the citation itself. The court and the UTT number printed on a Versailles ticket matter most. Every search runs on them. Through Indiana ePay, you can look up eligible tickets by UTT, by driver's license number, or by name with a date of birth. MyCase carries the court CCS, and CourtCal works as a backup calendar check. Versailles itself offers no separate payment portal or municipal ticket docket right now.
Give a ticket time to land. It can take up to ten business days to show up in the system. If it never does, call the issuing agency or the filing court named on the paper. Also know what a payment means. Paying a ticket is not the same as contesting it. An online payment never substitutes for a court appearance the citation requires.
For copies, the Clerk is the right office for county records. If the ticket came from the former town court, give staff the 69I01 code. Add whatever date or citation details you have.
Versailles Court Docket Channels
Every channel in a Versailles docket search answers one question. MyCase gives you the public index and some case images. CourtCal may list a current calendar. Scheduling questions go to the court office. Certified copies plus county files live with the Clerk. Town Hall handles municipal administration only. A citation issuer can fix its own agency details but cannot certify the court record.
| Need | Versailles route |
|---|---|
| Public case events | MyCase with Ripley County filter |
| Near-term setting | MyCase, CourtCal, then court phone |
| Plain or certified CCS | Ripley County Clerk counter or mail |
| Old 69I01 file | Clerk with historical identifier |
| Town administration | Versailles Town Hall, 812-689-6181 |
The clerk counter is the dependable in-person route. Plan on that rather than any self-service terminal, since the county confirms no public terminal location.
Where Versailles Cases End Up
Where a Versailles case goes depends on its type. Ripley Circuit takes the serious felonies. It also handles its assigned civil, probate, domestic, juvenile, and related docket. Ripley Superior carries assigned criminal, small-claims, foreclosure, collection, eviction, protective-order, infraction, and ordinance matters. An appeal, when permitted, opens a separate docket in the Court of Appeals of Indiana.
Docket flow: Versailles administration or former venue › Ripley County Courts › Ripley Circuit Court and Ripley Superior Court
A notice from town hall is not a case. Nothing becomes visible until a matter is filed and public under the governing rules. For court assignment detail across the county, the Ripley County court docket lays it out.
Versailles Court Docket Copy Requests
Mail copy requests go to Ripley County Clerk, P.O. Box 177, Versailles, IN 47042. List the case number and the document name and date if you know them. Say whether you want plain or certified copies, your return address, and a phone or email for payment questions. The county publishes no special Versailles form and promises no turnaround time. Build in patience.
State guidance supports a $1 per-page charge for court copies. It adds $1 for a certificate under seal. Call ahead to confirm the total and the accepted payment method before anything goes in the mail. Certification comes from the maintaining clerk only. A Town Hall stamp is not a substitute.
MyCase also warns that it is not the official record. A missing online image does not mean the filing is absent. Ask for the CCS, an order, or another named item rather than an undefined "whole background."
Versailles Court Docket Access Rules
Indiana court records are open as a general rule. What you can see online, though, may differ from what the counter releases. Juvenile, adoption, mental-health, sealed, expunged, and protected personal information can be excluded or redacted, and the Indiana Access to Public Records Act does not override a judicial sealing order or the Rules on Access to Court Records.
Key rules:
Access Rule 4 states the general access principle and recognizes remote-access limits.
Access Rule 5 identifies confidential cases, records, and data.
Indiana APRA requires reasonably particular public-record requests, subject to court rules.
"Not found" can mean many things. The court may be wrong, the file may predate Odyssey, the case may be restricted, or the search itself may hold an error, so an empty result is never proof that no Versailles proceeding existed.
Public Access to Versailles Court Records
You can reach Versailles court records four ways. These are online, at the counter, by phone, and by mail. MyCase is free for non-confidential Odyssey case information. At the courthouse, the Clerk handles both inspection and copies. By phone you should give the exact case number and what you need. Mail works best when you name the specific CCS or document. If a hearing date is urgent, call the court office instead of trusting an old web entry.
The former town court changes how you search, not the public-record standard. Old material may take staff retrieval. Current county cases run on the active court codes. Protected content stays unavailable without lawful access or a court order.
Keep four things separate: the municipal portal, the citation, the MyCase CCS, and the certified court file. Each can hold useful Versailles information. But only the maintaining court or clerk controls the official record.
